Default New install for a new appletv user

I've got a friend who got an appletv for xmas and I'd like to put boxee on it for him. Is the consensus that ATV2.2 is the most stable one to run boxee on top of? I don't suppose that there's any news on the user interface/remote control front in terms of making it more intuitive? I'm nerd enough to wing it but I'm scared that the non-intuitive nature of boxee navigation will scare him off...

Launcher 2.1 has an IR bug under pre-2.3 ATV OS. New release pending final testing. If pre-2.3, stick with Launcher 0.8 for now.
