Thread: How to connect to Qnap server outside LAN

    Default How to connect to Qnap server outside LAN

    I have a boxee box that's connected to internet. I want to connect to a NAS outside my LAN. How do i do that? I've tried to connect with my hostname of the NAS and with hostname:21 (FTP). Cant connect...

    Any ideas?

    Boxee will only connect to share drives/folders via SMB (samba) and UPnP (which is flaky). SMB over the internet isn't really recommended but it would be interesting to hear back if you get it to work.

    Try this, works for me

    http://www.netdrive.net/

    Mount the FTP as a local drive.
