    Default What channels?

It's all very well saying if you can watch a video online you can probably watch it on Boxee, but can you tell me if it actually plays the top channels like the BBC and Channel 4? Also Love Film or similar web streaming services.

don't want to spend £200 to find it only plays Youtube

Some 200+ shows (not episodes) show up for the BBC via Shows>>Channels>>BBC. In addition, this works pretty well in the built-in web browser: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/bigscreen/

LoveFilms has been asked for a lot and while I'm sure Boxee is interested in making this available, they haven't publicly said when or even if it will be available.

I do believe there are some UK selections available via MUBI as well.

Navi-X (a third-party app) might help fill in the gaps in the meantime.

If LoveFilms is a must-have, I'd hold off on purchasing the Boxee Box, especially if you don't have any local content to watch (ripped, DVDs, BDs, etc).

I don't have/ like Love Film but it's the UK equivalent of NetFix.

I tried the browser and it didn't work with the iPlayer website. Kept redirecting to iPlayer.com. I did find 'some' BBC programmes though which looked like they use the iPlayer website. Looked really hacked together though. Boxee doesn't seem to add non-serials. For example iPlayer is playing Kill Bill at the moment, but not on Boxee.

I'm pretty sure the BBC has an app on wii. If the people at Boxee work hard enough they can probably get the BBC to do the same for them. It seems ludicrous not to even try since the BBC is the biggest broadcaster in the world. But as it is with all American companies, they just don't care about anyone but Americans. Oh well.

I'm a little confused -- did you try the above in the Boxee software on a computer or on a Boxee Box? The browser in the software version doesn't work. The URL I posted works fine in the Boxee Box browser.

Boxee is in the process of releasing an iPlayer app (there was one previously but it was pulled while they work on the new one).

Boxee has also announced a recent event in London: http://blog.boxee.tv/2011/05/10/boxee-coming-to-the-uk/

And they are interested in working with international partners, see this as one example:
    http://blog.boxee.tv/2011/05/26/head...-nordic-users/

but it takes time to create those content partnerships as well as to develop the applications.

If possible, your best bet might be to order the Boxee Box from a retailer that has a good return policy (I believe Amazon UK offers a 30-day return policy, no questions asked though you might have to pay for return shipping).

And like I said, Navi-X fills the gap for a lot people.

Yes I tried the Boxee software on my computer.

I'm being a bit harsh. I was looking for something like this so I could stream my own videos from my server to my tv, so the tv streaming stuff isn't that important to me.

Obviously I was wrong about Boxee not trying hard enough in the UK. You can understand my frustration when you have companies like Google releasing products in the US years before anywhere else.

    I think I will buy a Boxee.

Then I think that overall, you'll be pretty happy with the Boxee Box.
