When I access this URL: http://192.168.0.169:8800/default.asp

    I get this error message:

Access Error: Site or Page Not Found

    Cannot open URL
Web interface is enabled within Boxee.

That's what I've gotten too. I guess we can hope for the update this month!

I sure hope so. I have to use my iPhone as a remote and the app always crashes whenever my phone is put to sleep. A web interface would let me control Boxee from my laptop with ease. VNC doesn't work because it takes too much processor to update during video viewing.

I'm getting this error in the current Ubuntu version as well. Just wanted to put this FYI in here so people won't think their own install is broken.

I did find a fix for this issue... looks like the ubuntu version of Boxee doesn't include any web remote. See /opt/boxee/web, it's empty.

So, I grabbed an old remote from the forums and put that into /opt/boxee/web... problem solved.

czar, can you post a link or a file and possibly a small how to?

The reason I want to see the web interface work is because I have the perfect touch screen controller already lined up.

I operate a forum that is focused on providing community support the DT Research Webdt line of products. These are in surplus status on ebay and are essentially an 8.4 inch touchscreen 486 computer. Think home automation controller. Search WebDT. I got mine for less than 2 bills. 366 is the model you want if you want to run linux on it.

The XBMC interface works well. I hope to post a pic later today. It allows for selection of media and browsing of library. Have to say is pretty snappy when used as control for playback.

That being said the Boxee interface is ideal for this application. czar if you would be so nice as to post how you got your web interface to work I will offer to help out anyone interested in getting a webdt set up as your Boxee controller down to supplying the bare bones linux image that fits on the webdt's 500 meg nand flash hard drive. There were 3000 left in surplus last I spoke with the distributor.

Special deals exist for the Boxee team members that solves the digital spdif audio problem as well as an autologin so we dont have to keep a keyboard handy. PM me for details. :-)

Ok. I found a solution here. Works great on my laptop and I think it's intended to work on the iPhone.

Go to this page and visit the download tab.

Download the .04 release and place it in your /opt/boxee directory. If you unzip it right there, it will create a subdirectory titled 'web' and within that directory will be all the scripts to control boxee. I'm not sure what the default permissions are on those files, but just to be safe, I opened up perms to all--

    chmod -R 777 web/*

No need to do anything to Boxee afterwards. Just fire up a browser on a seperate computer and type this URL --

    http://192.168.0.169:8800/default.asp

(of course, that's dependent on the IP of your boxee system)

Through my own testing, it seems to work well.
