Default Youtube Leanback quality (buffer issues)

I'm currently on the new May BB firmware, although I've had this problem ever since getting the box in December:
The Youtube Leanback app seems to auto-select the absolute highest quality available when playing a video. This usually ends up being 1080p, which my 5.5mbps down speed can't quite handle, so I get about 10 seconds of buffering and 5 seconds of playing.
My connection can handle 720p just fine, but 1080 ends up being too much. Is there a way to select the quality that the Leanback app uses? Otherwise, the app is pretty much useless to me.

    See if this helps:

From a computer, login in to YouTube. From your username dropdown, select settings, then playback setup. Select: I have a slow connection. Never play higher-quality video.

Then make sure you're logged in to LeanBack via the Boxee Box. Hopefully it will pick up your personal settings this way.
