    Default Confirmed gpl2 violation.

There's a file boxee.ttf in the original versions of firmware. Which - by looking at the ttf's metadata - seems to be part of LiberationFont which is licensed as "GPL2 + Exceptions".

The main point that causes boxee to be violation of gpl licensing is exception b:

    (b) As a further exception, any distribution of the object code of the
Software in a physical product must provide you the right to access and
modify the source code for the Software and to reinstall that modified
version of the Software in object code form on the same physical product on
    which you received it.

In new firmware, boxee.ttf is gone but replaced with 2 other files which are also from Liberation package. + 3rd font file which seems to be commercial offering from same company that owns the copyrights for liberation fonts.

The presence of metadata does not give anyone outside Boxee and a copyright holder a view into their private licensing agreements. Since that same company produces work to be licensed commercially, it's entirely plausible that all their content in Boxee has been licensed this way.

Instead of baseless accusations, if you are in fact truly interested in this subject, you should contact the copyright holder to find out if they're willing to share any information with you. They may not share anything as this could all be private, but you might be able to get confirmation that they know about the current situation. At that point, if they don't wish to do anything about it, that's entirely their business decision and you should assume and treat the situation as completely benign.

Okay, before this deteriorates further I would like to suggest that rasjani contact Tom Sella from Boxee directly (tsella AT boxee {{d0t}} tv) and that all further discussion on this topic be limited to the existing thread: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=33915
