Default MediaTomb UPnP Not Being Picked Up

    Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone else is having an issue using Boxee Box with newest firmware and MediaTomb with a MySQL backend?

The issue Im seeing is when I have Boxee Box scan my directories the notification box says "Boxee has found 0 files and will now try to identify them." However, I can go to Files > MediaTomb > Directory and see all the videos or other directories and play the movies from there. In the past Boxee was able to find and identify the videos for the most part.

Anyone else seeing the same problem?

If it helps Im running Ubuntu 10.10, the latest MediaTomb, and a MySQL 5 backend for MediaTomb

Is anyone else using a different UPnP Service and successfully identifying movie and nfo files?

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,

Which Boxee firmware version exactly do you have installed currently?

UPnP is broken on the BB. It half way works. Many problems.

Highly recommend to switch to SMB.

I have yet to find a single UPnP server other than Windows Media Player 12 on Windows 7 that successfully identifies files. But that's only if public sharing is enabled. Ouch! Then anyone can see the files.

I tried every single one I could find for Linux too. The best I have found so far is MiniDLNA which is being updated monthly / bi-weekly: http://sourceforge.net/projects/minidlna/files/

Note: That is the latest public release.

For Ubuntu you can use this PPA which is updated more offten: https://launchpad.net/~stedy6/+archive/stedy-minidna

You also have CVS access @ http://minidlna.cvs.sourceforge.net/...dlna/minidlna/ for even newer builds (these are the ones that tend to be updated Bi-Weekly or better.

Again, you can NOT add anything using MiniDLNA to Movies and Shows. You can only browse and play though Files. But at least it plays back everything I have tired correctly and gets the correct metaData too.

    @war59312

    Thanks for the info!

I was using SMB before I switched back to UPnP and the file identification worked fairly well, but I was running into issues with the SMB shares and file names.. For instance I have Videos/TvShows/How I Met Your Mother Season 2/02x01.m4v on my Ubuntu Box, hoever if I connect to the SMB share from any other device I see Videos/TvShows/How I Met Your Mother Season 2/0EATVL~4.M4V..

Other movies and shows in different directories randomly have the same issue.. I'm not familiar with using SMB for file sharing, so Im not sure if it's an issue with Samba following it's own symlinks or what.

    Any ideas?
