    Default .MKV Files not playing

    Hi All

Newly purchased boxee box installed and upgraded to latest firmware.
My problem.....MKV files show up but do not play.

    Message "Media Source not accessible"

Could someone suggest why this is happening?

    Thank you.

Search for, download, install, and run "mediainfo lite", run one of your mkv files through it and post the out put here.

(mkv files are just containers and tell us nothing about the video and audio codecs used)

Ah. What OS are your media files being shared from and are did you add local sources via SMB or UPnP?

What happens if you go to: HomeScreen>>MainMenu>>Files>>Browse>>Network>> and try to play a video that way?

Sounds like a Windows 7 permission issue

but maybe a quick remove and rescan will do the trick:

Yeah, Boxee should play that .mkv just fine. It has to be a network share access issue. First off, make sure you read this sticky thread on the topic.

What kind of storage device is this share on? Is it a USB hard drive or something like that? People often have problems losing shares when an external drive spins down for power saving. The OS doesn't always properly spin it back up on access attempts.

If you still have issues, try creating a new shared folder on an internal hard drive and moving one of these .mkv files to that temporarily for testing.
