Unhappy Playback Error - The media source of file is not accessible

    Hi Guys

I have had a boxee for around 2 months and everything has been working well
    - until the latest update. As instructed at my last start up, I updated the
boxee software and am now running version 1.1.0.19053-9ac0630

However on the completion of this update I am now getting the following
error message when trying to playback my network videos:

"Playback Error The media source of file is not accessible."

This has only started on since the update and strangely enough I am still
able to play back all the files which I had in the network folder prior to
the update. It is only the new files that I have added that are giving me
this error message. One file is mkv the other avi

What does this mean and how do I fix it? There seems to be very little
support on the internet regarding this issue.

    Help would be appreciated

I have the same problem too - except for me it's for the iso files I have created as a backup for my DVD's

I tried to remove scan and put it back on. Same result.

I tried different products to create ISO's - same result

Seems to have done the trick. It took a couple of goes but eventually it has worked. Easy when you know how.

    Cheers Wildmoker, appreciate it

    Hello,

I have the same error here with my Boxee box. I've got a DVD a gave me with a movie he made from our holidays with his camera. The DVD is playing fine in a DVD player. I made an .iso image with Nero9, but when I try to play it on the boxee, I got the "Playback error: the media source or file is not accessible" message. Any update on that one?

    Thanks

In my case it turns out that Boxee Box didn't like content in the folder with completed torrents. As soon as I moved files to different shared folder BB was able to play them.

Boxee Box didn't like content in the folder with completed torrents.
The Box may not like playing/accessing files that are opened by other processes (e.g. your torrent client).
