poor performance with SMB, won't scan over upnp

Hi - I'm running a boxee box and a ReadyNas NV+. They are on the same subnet. When accessed with SMB and with large video files (2GB+) the boxee box is having to rebuffer every 10 to 20 seconds. If I access the same file via the NAS upnp service there isn't a problem and playback is smooth. However I cannot get the Boxee box to scan the upnp service successfully. If see's the files (but gives them a long sting of numbers and letters as a name) but cannot identify them.

Any tips as how I might either resolve the playback over SMB or the indexing on upnp!

Is the Boxee Box wired or wireless? If wireless, how is that configured?

Hi darcilicious - It's Wired. ReadyNas and Boxee box are both attached to the same router.

I can't quite recall but there may be some configuration settings that can be tweaked on the ReadyNAS - try searching the forums and see if you can turn up anything along those lines. SMB should not be so slow that you see Boxee buffering even the largest of video files.

Had a good look around at the forums and the options on the ReadyNas... however turns out it was the Netgear WNR3500 router that was between the Nas and the Boxee.

Moved the Nas and the Boxee Box from this to seperate switch and all is well. Opening files and playing them so much quicker, and no rebuffering.
