Kind of annoying so hopefully they can fix it with the next update. anyone having this problem with the same situation as mine?
I only have one box myself, so I never had to go throug that 'pairing' method myself, but I believe one simple error to make is to forget turning the other box off when doing the pairing of one remote to the box it should control.

I'd try doing that procedure over again, for both remote+box pairs, until both boxes respond properly to the remote it is 'paired' with, including shutdown ability of course. And if that seems impossible to achieve I'd seek more detailed help with it here again.

    Best regards: Ronald

Red face Boxee Won't Shut Down

While using the Remote to shut down, it locks up or freezes

I have to manually press and hold the button on the box to shut it down.
    This happens often..

Has someone found a fix for this?

I see other have had the same problem

    Cheers!

The button works just fine for me. But the remote shutdown will make the Boxee hang. Nothing is on the screen but the Boxee is still lit up. Sometimes it stays on for a long time, other times it will shutdown after a few minutes.

I don't know how that works, but mine seems to shut down quickly if I'm only using an app but takes a while to shut down remotely if I'm watching local files.

Just to close the loop - I believe that my issue was caused by the BB media scanner getting hung up on a specific DVD rip - I removed the problematic DVD rip from my shared media folder and the problem went away.

This makes sense. The Boxee Box often hangs on shutdown for a long time when I shut it down (always, with the remote), often taking several minutes to finally power off. It must be the media scanner getting hung-up on some unidentifiable media.
