The Android Boxee App I have will still mute the volume but it isn't doing anything for the volume level. But it also didn't have a dedicated volume control either.

EDIT: I just tried the other one I have. It doesn't have a dedicated volume control either so it didn't do anything. At least the first one I tried did have a mute button which worked. So if there is one with a dedicated volume control then it might work.

Of course the stereo PCM to DD 5.1 also affects music playback too.

I'm like most here, and I'm not happy about losing my PCM audio track, and I see alot of people very angry.. ..etc.. sell it.. toss it in the river..etc.. well why not just go back to the old firmware?

then all your issues will be fixed that you had with this firmware, until they figure things out.

Has anyone checked if Youtube and the browser speed increased? That was probably in my top 5 gripes about Boxee. HTML, favorites and bookmarks is great but not if the thing crawls like a 5 year old cellphone.

I've never had YouTube issues but yes, the browser seems to load pages faster. It also has a few new features (bookmarks, etc).

Disaster! - UPnP audio playback is totally broken now. The Box sees the server and the media lists etc but when you try to play, nothing happens. After all the trouble (and expense) I went to in order to set up Asset media player to get around some of the limitations in the Box's audio player, this is a real smack in the face. Is it deliberate or a bug (and if the latter, I'm surprised it wasn't picked up in testing).

Having said that, the browser improvements are massive.

Having said that, the loss of volume control is very annoying but loss of UPnP is ten times worse than that.

Man, look at all the QQ over the volume controls...

I think probably 5% of users used the volume control on the remote, but they clearly are the most vocal.

Or most people are upset because...

    1) They don't have receivers to control their volume, but still have auxiliary speakers that can't be controlled via TV/other remote.
    2) They got the Boxee Box for local streaming only, and have no reason to want "consistency" across various apps.

Just seems like adding it as an option would have been a better idea. Where did that team of clowns even get the idea that it would be a good idea to remove volume controls?
