What Gives - 20 most wanted are ignored

I was just looking through the 20 most voted for items on the boxee jira and FIFTEEN of them are either in the "backlog" or "deferred".

Why have so few of the users most demanded features not managed to get on a development schedule yet?

The most requested item (i.e. a customisable home screen) has no release schedule which is very disappointing!

I know that as a humble user i don't know everything that goes on behind the scenes, but it really does seem like most of what users are screaming for is not being listened to.

I know their general policy is to bugfix first and add new features later, but it really feels disheartening - if 75% of what jira users are begging for is not going into 1.2 then all of these tickets are at least 6 months away.

i'm a patient and devoted boxee user but honestly, 9 months is a long time to wait for some of the items in that list.

There's nothing permanent about those release assignments. They could change tomorrow. Not saying that they will, mind you, just saying that I've seen issues moved around over time.

i know fix versions do get changed - for instance i was very much looking foward to spotify in 1.1 but now i have to wait until 1.1.1.... whenever that may be!

it's just without even being scheduled (and in many cases, with no assigned staffer) i'm not holding my breath.

here's hoping i'm pleasantly surprised!

It's not like it's being ignored. Boxee has actively been working on that issue with me and a gazillion other users. You'll notice Boxee comments often point to the source of the real problem... and I'm still actively working with them on it (in between actually using Boxee )
