Default remove XBMC/ (not Boxee) from AppleTV menu

I would like to remove XBMC/ from the main menu of the Apple TV but leave Boxee there. I bought an atv for my Dad for Christmas and have it setup, but to remove all confusion I want to get rid of all references to XBMC.

I already managed to get rid of the XBMC option within the submenu so all that remains is Boxee, Update, Settings, About. I thought I changed something in that Info.plist that would change the parent menu as well, but apparently not.

    Any help would be terrific.

I know it all has to do with terminal commands, but I'm not particularly good at figuring them out. I always seem to forget a step along the way. Hoping that I could change permissions inside Cyberduck, but nope. root versus frontrow....

you need to reboot or kill finder to get the Info.plist settings updated, they get cached when frontrow (Finder.app) is launched.

A future version of the Launcher with change the left side menu entry from "xbmc/boxee" to Launcher.

    Default thanks

Thanks. I'd done that before, but it didn't do what I'd hoped. Halfway there, I'll give it another shot. He seems to have figured it out otherwise.

Can someone please provide a step-by-step for this (removing XMBC but not Boxee)? I am pretty comfortable getting around via SSH and removing the necessary files, but editing plists is not my forte.

    Thank you!

Thanks...but I guess I'm still a total clueless newbie about this stuff. Where exactly is this Info.plist file located that I need to edit, and how do I edit it through Terminal?

Default Maybe it shouldn't be called launcher

Just a thought, but Davilla, wouldn't it better to have the frontrow menu called Boxee (which is called Launcher right now) and then Boxee called (Start Boxee or Launch Boxee).

This just makes it easier for noobs to understand. I ran into this last night when I was away from home and the wife decided she wanted to watch something.

She knows we use Boxee since she sees the logo etc... but it wasn't obvious to her that Boxee would be under Launcher.

If you are aiming at the consumer market then I think you have to make these things real obvious.

True, my wife was all confused as to how to get into Boxee as well. I know things will be different for those that chose to boot right into Boxee but for those that still want to use the native ATV world for say deleting media (Hint)..... the menu labels need to be really clear as suggested.

Possible but then we would need two source trees, one for the Boxee Launcher, the other for XBMC. That's twice the effort. It's pretty easy to remove Boxee or XBMC from the right side menu, Launcher was designed for that but you are going to have to edit the Launcher Info.plist manually.
