[Release] Grooveshark App

I started porting the xbmc grooveshark app as there was little development news on an official boxee app. I managed to get it working, but consider it a beta status. If you find any bugs please report it in the forum/this thread.

Quick Guide:
When you press remote 'right' you get the dialog option screen with all options (like on the second screenshot). The dialog will be different depending where you are in the menu (song, playlist, album, artist etc). When you press a song it will just play it.

When you press remote 'left' you get the main menu, from which you can perform searches and directly open items from the main menu.

When you press up/down if you are on the top/end of the main list you will focus on the (hidden) music controls (play/pauze/next etc)

If you want to store playlist and access your favorite numbers, please setup an account at grooveshark.com and register your username/password in the app (remote left->settings)

Ha! The actual people who run Grooveshark were supposed to be putting out an app god knows when... looks like you just helped them out big time and I know they wouldn't have made it as nice looking as Bartsidee! Awesome work broski, will check it out for sure!

I noticed that both fields say username initially (in the text field). And the password remains in the clear after entering it (even after exiting and restarting the app).

Also, I think the font size needs to be hugely increased, I won't be able to read much of anything via the Boxee Box on my 32" screen in the bedroom...

Also, when I select an item from the search results (assuming this is how to start playback) I get the error message:

Playlist playback aborted
Too many consecutive failed items

Just when I think I have a reason to stick with XBMC, bartsidee converts the Grooveshark script by solver.

Waiting til next week to see what the word is on the os version of Boxee but if its coming out soon then I'd probably switch back.

I pm'd anarchintosh but he said he wasn't really interested in developing for Boxee.

I was looking into converting his xbmc icefilms addon but the way Boxee implements skins is completely different. Plus his addon doesn't really use a skin like this script does.

I'll try this when I get home though.

Allright I just released a fix:

- Bugfix audio playback on single item
- Increased font size
- Settings bug (double username)

The audio bug slipped in somehow. It is related to a weird bug in boxee. My app uses something similar like the setUrlResolve function in xbmc, to call for the streamyrl at the moment that it is played. This makes sure you have an up to date link for playback. But when the playlist is called in boxee with player.playSelected(0). It fails to resolve the url and skips to the next. I now have a workaround in place, giving the first item in the playlist the real grooveshark stream url.

I also noticed another bug but it is hard to solve. Grooveshark is streaming without mp3 header and boxee has a hard time to find the right codec. I manged to get it working by adding the mime type, but apparently for a small amount of songs this is not working. So it could be that you might run into songs that will not play.

It's not entirely intuitive but press the left-arrow while on the main screen and a menu will slide out on the right, then you can select settings, then enter your username and password.

Your question is somewhat unclear, are you reffering to the app or the grooveshark website.

Go to: http://listen.grooveshark.com/ and on the left right click 'create account'.

In boxee: Open the app grooveshark, press remote 'left' and select 'settings' from the menu. Now fill in your username and password.
