    Default NOOB - questions about remote & file tagging

    A little help please,

    I'm new to the Boxee. I just hooked mine up last night. So far I like what I have found, but I have a few questions;

    Lots of my files are *.ISO format movies. Most of them play properly. Every once in a while I will get a file (usually a TV series) that plays with subtitles on. How do I turn on/off subtitles without leaving the movie? Is there a subtitles button on the remote? If not, why not?

    Within a *.ISO file, how do I skip to the next chapter? I've found the fast forward button only.

    When previewing my movies, trying to decide which one to watch, can I press a letter on the remote and skip down to files that start with that letter? Kind of like Windows Explorer does.

    I've gotten my local files to scan, but only a portion of them are identified (2000+ movies). How do I get the Boxee Box to recognize more of these file properly? It's only recognizing about 800 correctly.

    I have thousands of movies, plus 5 times the music files. Is there something that I can do to my files to make them identified by Boxee properly? The typical types of files that I have are *.ISO, *.MP4, and *.M4V video files, and *.MP3 audio files. Are there some kind of file taggers that I can use for each of these file types? Which ones work extremely well with Boxee? Which ones are capable of batch tagging (I have lots of files)?

    Thanks for the help.

    I'm really impressed with what the Boxee does. I used to run my file through and older PC running Linux Mint using VLC media player. The Boxee has a much nicer video display and the sound seems to be fuller/deeper. I might have to pick another one of these up for the living room this weekend.

    Bring up the OSD menu (click the center button aka ok/enter/select), click in the settings icon (looks like a gear), select Audio and turn off subtitles.

    I think you bring up the OSD menuand find the chapter button (an icon with several horizontal lines).

    From the Movies screen (not the Files>>Browser>>Network screen), there is a column with the alphabet that lets you navigate to the first letter of a movie.

    Make sure they're properly named: http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/426...al-media-files

    Alternatively, get ready to use NFO files that will be supported in the next release. Here's a good thread: http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=33055 you can use the forum search (keyword NFO) to find a few more.

    Music identifying is still rather buggy unfortunately, the best you can do is use a program like Mp3Tag (safe, free, google it) and wait for music scanning to get better (hopefully before the end of the year).

    Also search the forums for AssetUPnP and SUB-BOX for alternative ways to access your music.

    Also make sure your file types are supported: http://boxee.zendesk.com/entries/325...ed-media-files
