Default Lag when playing local media on another machine when controls are up

Everything works very smoothly with Boxee except for one thing...

When I am playing a video file...mkv (h264/aac) if it matters...Boxee lags whenever i am trying to use any controls (fast forward, etc...) as long as the dialog is up where it shows the controls the video lags, then when the controls go away the movie 'catches up' by moving very fast then when it's caught up all is good.

I am doing this wirelessly if it matters...

    Thanks for any help!

On a separate note, as long as I can get everything working I think I'm going to setup a boxee...do people usually recommend setting up a boxee server or using the boxee boxes that are available for sale? Any benefits of having the server and client on one box other than speed?

Is this the Boxee software running on a computer? If so, which OS? And what are the hardware specs (CPU, graphics, etc).

First, Boxee isn't really server -- it just plays content, but that content can be on the local computer, on your local network or from the Internet. In that sense "speed" has nothing to do with any as long as your computer is up to snuff to handle Boxee's resource hogging software and playback of the content you select (see: Suggested Hardware).

How you want to set up where your content is and where your Boxee software (or Boxee Box for that matter) is entirely up to you -- personally I have a WHS where all my content is, and two different computers running Boxee software and one Boxee Box, all getting local content from the WHS box.

The Boxee Box has one huge advantage over the Boxee software: it's currently running the latest version of "Boxee software" (no word on when that software will be available for computers) and is actively being developed while the OS version is languishing. Also, if you're into Vudu for content, you only get HD or HDX qualityvia the Boxee Box.
