Not related to API itself but on the context... give credits to your developer community! Focusing a bit more on what they need and how to make them earn from what they have made so far!
My repository is now up and running http://fiasco.fm/boxee My focus is on design and user experience (effortless couch movements!!) If anyone (developer) wants to collaborate in boxee related projects please PM me!!!.

I think iansampaio is reffering to this discussion:

Have a look at my repo at www.bartsidee.nl

Not sure if it is related to the online api, but as we now have all signed apps I think it would be nice to have some analytics overview on the devs page. Should be that hard I think as boxee is already checking for the signature. It would be nice to see how large the userbase is, without calling anything like google analytics or something.

Glad to say its on the todo list, but will be available only for applications in the boxee main repository.

Edit: btw, its not related. lets try to keep this thread Server API ideas only please

As Bartsidee said, I'm talking about elaborating a return to developers initiative to engage on Boxee. You should have that in mind. As everyone knows, we are currently unable to sell apps and developers are in lack of a place to promote theirselves (to maybe get hired to develop for companies producing content).

Not about the API: Boxee website could spotlight apps from 3rd party (not just big one like netflix). Obviously the website is focused in getting new customers, it could be home for the current ones as well.

Or easily implement the app search within boxee to give categories, infos and user feedback. This way, developers like Bartsidee can get their apps found by regular users which are not going into every page in the forum to find about applications.

Application categories is already scheduled to version 1.2. And a short while later we'll introduce a revamped apps/services tab for users in our website.

Both (categories, and the applications tab on the website), by the way, won't help to promote applications that are not part of the boxee applications library but instead stored on 3rd party repositories (which won't help bartsidee exposure at all, I'm afraid).

now, can we please keep this thread Server API related only

The API should allow access to the metadata of different titles (movies / tv shows) on Boxee's servers to be used within our apps.
By approving this request, developers are able to develop apps that either revolve around this metadata or enrich their apps with it.

    Examples:
IMDB App - Fetch data from IMDB DB, such as Movie/TV Show metadata and display it.
Movie/TV Shows ToDo List App - Have an app that lets you organize movies and tv shows that you've watched or want to watch, while using IMDB's metadata.
Movie Trailers App - Lets you watch movie trailers from IMDB's DB.

These are just some examples, there are many other possiblities.

    1 - preload content, for example when playing next, to reduce waiting time;
2 - visual editor and starter kit
3 - more options for font types (I don't know if this is possible on html5 apps using css font-face call?)
4 - a library of GUI elements available (templates)
5 - possibility to use click and hold, double click, etc (probably this is possible to use via python)

    Are these API related? :-/
