    Default Launcher 2.0 released

The new AppleTV Launcher 2.0 with "Multifinder" has been released.

Fixes failure to get into the frontscreen when launching Boxee.

It's a manual install using ssh/wget for now. Once we get more feedback, we will enable GUI updating Launcher 0.8 to Launcher 2.0 and update atvusb-creator/atv-win.

This version replaces booting into the standard Finder.app (frontrow) with a new Multifinder that handles application switching between Boxee and Frontrow. The only side effect is going back to Frontrow takes longer than previous as Frontrow is starting up from scratch.

    How to Install:

    Code:
    ssh into your appletv.

    wget http://atv-xbmc-launcher.googlecode.com/files/MultiFinderAllInOne-0.4.run

    sudo sh MultiFinderAllInOne-0.4.run

answer Y to the last question.
    Enjoy

EDIT: changed link to point to new version.

The only reason I use my ATV is for Boxee, I don't ever go back to FrontRow. So taking longer to get back to FrontRow isn't an issue for me.
Looking forward to installing the new loader tonight

Default Problems with non-apple "learned" remote

When I launch Boxee with the new Launcher, my original Apple TV remote works, but the remote I normally use for Apple TV / Boxee, which is a universal remote that has been set up with the "Apple TV -> Settings -> General -> Remotes -> Learn Remote" does not work at all once Boxee has started. It still works fine for the Launcher's other menus, such as Update.

Ahh, I knew someone was going to do this. Launcher 2.0 only works with the AppleTV IR remote for now. With Launcher 2.0, we are handling IR directly and passing IR events to Boxee since Frontrow is not running (Finder.app) when Boxee is running.

Then you will like something that we will expose in a few days. Direct boot into Boxee

So, first: is there a super-hacky way to get Launcher 2 to recognize additional IR commands, yet? My Harmony remote is feeling highly underutilized by Boxee!

Second, does this also mean things like using Apple's Remote iPhone app won't crash the system anymore? I'm just guessing that without Finder running the iPhone app and various AirTunes servers won't see the AppleTV at all and so won't throw monkey wrenches into Boxee's environment ... That'd be nice ...
