Thread: Request: Make the boxee (Box) music app NOT the worst implementation ever

Sorry, not really that funny. I was being serious.
And I'm sure it's all jest, but just in case:

I also didn't vent one someone... I vented (constructively I think) to someone - the community.

I also know it goes without saying now... but the sub-lackluster music playing function of Boxee is a pretty big deal.

I totally agree. I am waiting since early December for an upgrade of the music player capabilities...
Really hate the equalizer animation, simply show cover art and various song + artist info, that’s it! (At least I would be happy)

yeah....... I hate the implementation here. All I need is coverart and song info on screen while playing - oh, and actually seeing the "Music" menu on the home screen. I mean, how does that get missed?

I have had the Boxee Box for a month now, all my music has the proper information in the ID Tags which took me 2 weeks to get right. But the music feature in my Boxee Box just lets me down.

Why is it not in the main menu? Why do I have only one choice of animation when I play music? Why can't I sort music using various items, like Album Artist or Genre? Why does it suck so much at music?

Also, music is a lower priority until the vast majority of video issues are resolved. Until then, Boxee didn't think it made sense to have a link to the music player on the HomeScreen. There are some decent alternatives if you read through this thread before posting

Re-reading the product listing on Amazon, it is apparent that its focus IS about "watching", so I understand how "audio" is less of a driving factor. My bad for not really realizing that.
The work-arounds are not acceptable either (from my last read a few weeks ago). We run NAS so we don't have to access content from a full on running computer. I'm just practicing patience. Darcilicious has said it's GOING to be worked on, so I'll be patient and thankfully I have a junker laptop I can start up to run a real music management system from when I just want to have intelligent playlists or search by useful means.

It does seem like we might not be taken seriously when we comment that basically ID3 (or whichever) tags aren't even being used for search/organizing at least - and that seems exceptionally lazy on the developer side.

    I'm keeping the faith.

For what it's worth, there are quite a few mp3 / music related bugs even in the beta version so it's just more of the same until they get around to the music stuff...

I think the issue is that these are seemingly simple fixes - like putting Music on the home screen, and taking out the graphic EQ (removing something is a huge deal?). It's not like personally I am asking for them to make it the top music player on the market, just simple and elegant.

like putting Music on the home screen,
Right, it was a strategic decision, not a "it's too hard to do" decision.
