Actually, after re-reading that post, it seems like corporate marketing horse shit.
That's like saying, "I just went out and bought a BetaMax camcorder but I have to convert all my videos to DVD format to watch them." Stupid.
My main problem is that if you say you support MPEG-2 and get consumers to go out and buy a $200 Boxee Box and then it turns out that there are major issues with MPEG-2 playback, that just seems dishonest. Kind of like the timeframe for Netflix support. Hell, I could of just bought a high end graphics card for less and built out a MythTV box....
