@vtxrider Its not the same issue your having that we are suffering from. Most of us in this thread use either tv or simple stereo receiver for sound, and that exactly where the problem lies. The Boxee Box needs te down sample the sound, usually a 5.1 soundtrack, either AC3 or DTS, and does so awfully leading to huge difference in sound output between a file with just stereo sound, like most podcasts such Tekzilla or Twit shows (any file with a 2.0 soundtrack) and divx files, compared to DVD rips or hd mkv rips. Now they claim this was fixed in a previous 1.1. build, but apparently its not.

Your receiver, the onkyo does the sound decoding for you, so you most likely will not have any issues relating downsample or anything else flakey the box may do with sound output. Assuming of course you have your boxee box hooked up with hdmi or optical audio, and its setup correctly so that it sends an ac3 or dts, or digital signal to your receiver and that your receiver is setup properly. But since your a senior member, I bet it is...

Now I am not gonna buy a 5.1 stereo set just because my Boxee box cannot properly downsample 5.1 back 2.0..

Note: Back in the day I tested it using analogue sound output, with two cinch jacks, issue still occurs on 1.0.4

I suggest adding a comment to the closed ticket on jira and hope they reopen it:

I think someone will have to create a new ticket on jira... according to one of the mods, boxee devs will not look at closed tickets.

I've already gone back to v1.0.3..

Can someone confirm if AC3 is definitely quieter on the latest 1.1 and create a new ticket on jira?

The newest firmware 1.1.1.19092 still has the problem.

I've created another issue as boxee doesn't seem to want to reopen 8327.

Everyone, please vote and add comments to the jira tickets below

    Hey Janrex,

Thanks for opening a new ticket on jira.. If I did it, they probably just would of ignored as they have done over the past three months.

    Cheers,

    Seb

    Please vote for http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-9433

They've closed the previous reports... this bug might not be fixed for a while
