    Default Xtreamer Boxee Released

Anyone notice that Xtreamer has released a Boxee and XMBC media player at lower price point. It appears to support an internal 2.5 hard drive. I assume Boxee would have the same issues (i.e. DTS-HD dropouts, etc.). But it does have much more memory so maybe not....

    Isn't that just a Windows-based HTPC?

It won't be running v1.0 but the old beta...

Right, this will run Boxee v0.9 (Windows or Linux), it's not another Boxee "box" per se: http://www.ehomeupgrade.com/2011/02/...at-cebit-2011/

Could be a sweet setup though, once v1.0 is available for OS platforms.

And the problem is? looks good to me, will be watching closely.

Bottom line dont care who makes the "box" I just want it to work well. PC pre-boxeebox beta worked very well IMO.

And I bet the remote is back lit

No problem at all -- and like I said, it could be a sweet setup -- though this was initially posted in the Boxee Box sections it's been moved here...

That's a sweet price, but aren't here issues with the Ion2 and streaming flash and HD video?

Yeah I remember Anandtech mentioning something about that.

Anyway the xtreamer ultra is just another HTPC except
    * It comes with a USB flash drive running some linux OS that will run XBMC/Boxee.
    * You can turn it off and on via remote.

Lastly Xtreamer dont exactly have a great rep in network media player circles so theres no shortage of those who will tell you to avoid Xtreamer.

Yup. Tegra/Ion 2 uses a PCI x1 lane, unlike the Ion before it. This narrow bandwidth is a hardware issue thanks to Intel and NVidia not having a deal after Atom 330 and Ion. This would have been interesting if it had the old 330/Ion combo, or something besides the 525/Tegra. It does okay for Youtube HD if you don't move the mouse, the overlay menu that pops up just about chokes it out. Hulu HD or 480p at full screen is out, as is Netflix HD. I really have no clue why HTPC system builders would even touch something with Intel/Ion 2 base. FYI, Boxee ditched that setup at the last minute, discovering that it was too weak for what would be demanded of it. Tegra is fine for cell phones, where it should stay.

How is the price lower than the Boxee box?

The 100 Euros is for those that win the contest.

The regular price is 200 Euros.

    Or am I missing something?
