Default Audio quits on Revo 3610; resumes with restart

This is likely not a Boxee problem, but it happens overnight while Boxee is open...

Most day's first use of Boxee on my Revo 3610 (Win7) reveals that audio has stopped. No "beeps" for Boxee actions; no audio for programs. Exiting Boxee (which is always running on this machine) and trying to play something in the browser reveals same: no audio. This is always cured by a restart (in fact, the audio does play its little "goodbye" notes while powering down).

Sometimes, in addition to first play each day, this will happen during a day.

I have never lost audio while using Boxee; this only happens after inactivity.

It's not a big deal to restart the machine, but if there's anything I might do to prevent the behavior, I'd love to try.

I've been dealing with this issue for quite some time now. I've yet to hear a solution...

ps - logging off and back on is sufficient. no need for a restart.

Negative. Might be true of your situation, but not true of mine. Audio is locked off until restart.

A little more detail for this:

The audio only stops if Boxee was open when the computer went to sleep. If the computer goes to sleep with Boxee closed, no problem with audio when Boxee is restarted. If Boxee is open when computer sleeps, very good chance audio will be stopped for all programs when computer wakes.

No, the issue is when the PC goes to sleep. It loses the audio connection to the Nvidia driver.

There is no REvo audio setting that will cure this! I've been unable to determine if it's an Nvidia driver issue or a Boxee issue. I have my suspicion that it's boxee causing the driver to crash upon wake up.

Though, I've not had this trouble as of late. Try updating the latest Nvidia 166.58 which includes an update too for the HDMI audio.

Just bubbling this back to the top a year and a half later...

The behavior persists on my Revo. It is cured by logging out of Windows 7, then logging back in. It happens much more persistently now than it used to.

It does not appear to be Boxee-related as I've been using XBMC almost exclusively. It even happens when sleep occurs from the Windows home screen...

    Any solutions or suggestions?

And, a year and a half later, I think I have it SOLVED!

Downloaded a Windows utility called HDMIyo, which "resets" the HDMI after the computer has been in sleep mode. So far, it's worked six for six.

    Details, here: http://mymce.wordpress.com/2010/10/24/hdmiyo/
