Default Populating Shows Folder with Net Junk!!

OK, ever since the 103 update I find BB is populating my shows folder with stuff from the net. If I wanted results from the web cluttering up my files folder I would not have needed the 'files' focus option, which is now useless. I put the first 3 shows from season 2 of Hot in Cleveland in the Hot in Cleveland folder and the BB sticks the entire 1st season in as well, not to mention it adds episode 4 which points to TV Land in the Browser. If I wanted crappy browser videos I would add them myself. I download 720P versions of this show to watch on my big screen.

Boxee software has done this for over a year now: it supplements your local content with online episodes when/where they're available. I believe there's a feature request thread or three on this topic...

I have never seen this work... I have my box set as mostly local content, maybe that's why?

Mine is also set this way, I only noticed this behavior after the last update, and I have had those show folders since day one.

The variability in this is probably dependent on when Boxee detects newly added shows on various websites and starts scraping them and adding them to the Boxee TV show database.

For example, you have Some Show in your local collection and no online episodes show up. Then weeks, months later, online episodes show up in Boxee because whatever network / website has published episodes for Some Show, Boxee scrapes them and adds them to the TV Shows database...

You know, this could be partially solved if they ever did the TV Show change some people have asked for..

    Instead of -

    Season 1
    episode
    episode
    episode

    Season 2
    episode
    episode
    episode

where you have to scroll down thru them all

    *Season 1
    *Season 2

and you click on the Season banner and it expands the season list...

    add to that

    *Season 1
    *Season 2
    ...
    *Extras
    *Online Content

does this as part of the manual vs scan to add files... similar to duplicate files presented as playable for same movie... noticed this also. happed after 1.03 which im running on 2 boxes, both boxes are effected so know its not just a single glitch box

I think this would actually be a cool feature (filling in the local media view with online sources for seasons/episodes we don't have locally) if:

    - The online content was very clearly marked as online content in the show list - so I don't have to click on every single episode to find out whether it's local vs. "ad supported."

    - Only reliable online sources are used. It kills the experience when you find an online version of an episode in your local-file shows list, decide to play the ad-supported online version anyway, then wait a few minutes for the show to buffer or an ad to play, only to then realize that the show is not gonna play back on Boxee after all (I'm looking at you, Fancast, et al.).

    - Region-restricted online content wasn't included in the wrong region. For example, even though I chose the Boxee option to hide apps and feeds not available in my region, I'm still seeing online episodes listed for sites that don't work in my region, in cases where my local content is a British-based show. (I'm in the U.S. but I download a lot of British and Australian TV - and Boxee is adding online episodes to my local media view for these shows using sources like SeeSaw and Channel 4 or whatever - but I can't use those online sources in the U.S.)

This. I have some cartoons I ripped from DVDs for my daughter, but not all of every season (the DVDs have 3-4 episodes, some from different seasons so they are spread out). She's five and old enough to use the box to find the shows and episodes she wants for local files, but when it throws up an ad-supported show that doesn't go full screen automatically, it just gets too complicated for her. Granted if you click on the show, it will say ad supported on the pop-up, but that still makes it difficult to find only the local files if you have to click every one of them and that's frustrating for a five year old.
