    Default Solved my "DISCONNECTED" issues

    A LITTLE BACKGROUND:

I Have an Intel Atom based home server running Win7 Pro x64. I am in the process of moving all my DVD content onto this server for use with my Boxee Box. I have 2 desktops in the home running Win7 Ult x64, which I use for transcoding. I also have a MacBook Pro on my network. I have Intel Gigabit Ethernet cards on the 3 windows PC's, all hardwired.

    THE ISSUE:

I have a network file share established on my Atom server, which I am accessing on my Boxee Box. I am able to access the share without issue until........I transfer files from any of my computers to the network share. Within 30 seconds of the start of the file transfer, my network share will show as disconnected. I noticed this issue occurred on my MacBook Pro as well, because after adding new movies, I can not access the share from My MacBook Pro either, however, Windows PC's are unaffected.

    THE FIX

After doing a little research from the OSX viewpoint rather than the Boxee viewpoint, I found an article that outlined a registry fix for Windows 7 when this occurred with a Linux box. Below is the link, and I have summarized the fix as well.

Set the following registry key to ’1′:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\LargeSystemCache

and set the following registry key to ’3′:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServe r\Parameters\Size

    Restart!

I only applied this fix tonight, but have been unable to reproduce the issue through the previously mentioned means. Hopefully this helps you as well!

i never paid too much attention, but is this the same registry change for win7 that has been mentioned for the last few months or is this something different?

I had a similar issue and saw that error listed today serveral times on my Windows 7 Home Premium x64 machine. I made the changes to my PC remotely as I am curently at work and plan to test it out when I get home. I was going to post this same thing if all figured to be working. haha

I also made an additional change as noted here. Apparently Windows 7 is not configured as a file server by default therefore the need to tweak the registry with the values NSGrimace posted above to allow for the additional resources needed for Windows 7 to be a file server.

I couldn't figure out why I was continually getting soft reboots randomly (navigating the menus, after viewing a video, Cleaning up unidentified videos, etc). I was almost to the conclusion that I must have a defective box until I started looking closer into the networking side.

I have been beating my head against the wall trying to get this fixed. Did the trick so far, I will see if it stays working. Thank you!
