Thread: Open Boxee Box Bounty

  1. #101

Default Please stick to pledges here

    Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you for your comments on the pros and cons of having an open or requiring a closed BBox. For the sake of clarity here, please keep this thread for those that want to show their support, in a monetary way, for an open BBox.

Please debate the value of this in other threads. Thank you very much!

    Openboxee.

Too many bugs, too few developers (or maybe they've allocated them to that Boxee ipad port ). Let others debug the open JIRAs or give us the opportunity to run alternative less buggy software. i.e. Open that shit up. Count me in for $50.

Pledges to donate are nice but is there anyone working on opening the Boxee Box either from the Boxee or the XBMC communities?

I'd like to get involved but while I work I.T. as both a developer and system administrator and understand the Linux boot process, I'm a complete newb when it comes to embedded Linux. I've dug into their software update files and sort of know what is going on, but I'd like to get their software running in a VM on my laptop so I can play, change things, and create new updates. But I'm kind of stuck. Then there is the whole code-signing piece that I believe is in place that we'd need to get around (again, not an expertise of mine). I'm wondering where the best place to discuss this is, get answers, and work collaboratively. If Boxee's official line is to keep the box closed then it probably isn't this forum. Perhaps over at the XBMC forums? Any suggestions?
