Default Stop adding online episodes to shows for local files

If you don't have a complete list of shows for a series ... e.g. Dr who ... in your local files, Boxee will automatically (unwantedly) search online sources for missing episodes. You can't distinguish between local files and online files even though you are supposed to be able to only view your local files.

The local shows view should show local files only, not mix your local files with online shows.

Please remove this automatic and unwanted feature or make it switchable. Where I am some of the files don't play. It's very, very annoying.

Anyone know how to get rid of this?

Jira registrations were/are open, if you're registered, pelase vote on the defect so it's fixed. Jira ticket for the defect is here:

    http://jira.boxee.tv/browse/BOXEE-7613

    Thanks,

Agreed. This is a terrible implementation for online tv content. Someone tell me it was unintentional and not a deliberate decision?

If I've selected LOCAL files in my setup, doesn't that imply something???

The only way I know to fix it is to unplug your internet connection.

Boxee, please don't force me to sift through junky online content to find my local files!!

I totally agree. We must be able to totally disable all online content from local files.

Personally I am not interested in any online content unless I can get to it via an App, like Revision 3, but all the other stuff, no thanks.

    To the original poster...

If you set your location in the settings and select to hide content not available in your region, it should (or at least if the online providers have set things up correctly) filter out shows/episodes not available in your area.

Furthermore, when you click on an episode, it gives you options/indications whether this is a local file or one from a provider.

As you set out, this is USEFUL behaviour for people with missing episodes from their collection.

IMHO, Boxee in the end needs to promote paid/ad-supported services. We are getting a free ride with the home media library manager functionality. I would say the long term future would be one where we could weaned off side-loading content. Afterall, downloading/ripping something from another app and putting it where Boxee can see it is quite archaic.

@pahtz ... useful it may be, but not to me thank you I'm simply suggesting if I want to see my local view, I should be able to without Boxee slipping in unwanted, low quality ad riddled tv shows I have no interest in watching.

I set my Boxee to not display content not available in my region however some of the shows that do list, do not play and the ones that do are also very, very poor quality.

Yes it's true I can see if it's an on-line show when I click on the show, but not in the show listing, which is supposed to be showing local files.

Remember, I'm choosing to use the File view here, I don't think this is working as it should.

Boxee - Adding a configuration option would make everyone happy!

@golly: I agree that intermixing internet offerings with local files is undesirable. But even worse, I have seen many times when the internet offerings cloak my local files. In other words, even though I have the show locally, it is not even listed, but rather it is the internet ad supported or Vudu pay per view that is listed.

    Completely unacceptable.

It's a bug; that's not how it's designed to work.

I am having the same problem with two of my shows here in Canada.

When I add a Daily, or Colbert show boxee sees I have added it and I can see that dvd box icon in my local shows area BUT even tho it shows up none of my local files are visible in that folder?

I wonder what would happen if Microsoft added online shows mixed into your local stuff when sharing content on the XboX 360?

Sued? Consumer outrage? Stock go down? Sony's go up?

BB is the only product that I have ever owned & seen that forces online content on you when viewing your locally stored content.

    Pathetically really!
