Smile The... I rather like my boxee box thread...

You know what, since the new firmware....

Streaming from my home Windows home server :-
    - I'm watching home HD camcorder footage.
    - DVD rips.

    Facebook video links.
    Iplayer (though not pausing it)...
Unboxing porn. Odd that I like that.
    Youtube...

    And I'm really rather happy.

Does your Apple TV do all that... No. :-)
    - Does my IP samsung tv do that? (No. I can't even pause DLNA video).

Thank you boxee. Credit where credit is due.

    Default Thanks to All

Thanks to all involved in support of the Boxee Box.
I was a bit frustrated when I first got it, but the interaction on the forums between the users and developers is amazing.
I know it will get better and better.
What an awesome community we have!!

    Thanks again !

Same, kdnoel. I said from the beginning this box has huge potential, and now that I'm missed my 45-day return window from buy.com, I guess I am banking on it! lol

I only got the box to play local media files on my tv and it does that well so I'm happy. Still a bit frustrated with the media fetching and customisation though...

I upgraded from an ASUS O!Play to the Boxee Box.

I don't know if anybody else has used that ASUS "product", but if you have, I don't have to say any more than I already did. I won't bitch about the ASUS, however, and instead mention what I LOVE about the BB:

Pulling local content metadata from the internet and giving me access to subtitles and cover art.

Inserting streaming content into my local library. My torrent of House is taking forever, but I already see it in my library streamed from Global!

The browser to allow viewing of HTML-embedded Flash content is brilliant. I don't mind tediously moving the cursor around to find the fullscreen button when I know the alternative is no media at all.

The Boxee team are extremely communicative and engaged with the community! That's easily my #1.

I happen to be happy with my boxee box and if my uebo m200s werent such good deals I would buy another because the interface is elegant. the lamers who cry about netflix and hulu should have just bought existing boxes or curiously enough playon and uebos and then we wouldnt have to read their endless whining. I wish the cover art issues would get fixed but there are work arounds that make this almost like a poor mans kaliedescape box and thats saying something. I have you tube on my sony tv and on playon so I dont need to use the crappy youtube on bb but I would eventually like to see that fixed. to echo the OP I am happy with the bb and happy with its upgrades. thanks for creating it. now please just create a better remote control!

I'm also very happy with the BB. I think the boxee guys are taking way to much heat, when they are actually making a very good product!

So good initiative with this thread.

Keep up the good work Boxee!

despite few minor issues (xvid stutter being the main), I think the best thing I bought myself in 2010 was the boxee box
Thank you for all the great work & effort.

I'm also happy with the Boxee Box! But some of the heat that the developers get was directed towards missing apps, e.g. Hulu plus and VUDU. For me this wasn't a problem as I live in the Netherlands and I don't have those services in the first place .

One feature that works well, and deserves credit, is the apps system. It is really easy to make third party apps, which enables a lot of local content. Praise to the boxee team for allowing third party apps and creating a free platform where everybody can benefit from the hard work of volunteer app developers!
