Default Boxee Box can't see my networked Windows 7 machine files?

Boxee Box can see the Windows 7 networked machine that hosts all my local media, but when I go to access a shared folder it says it can't connect... why is this?

on my Windows XP Pro laptop, I can go into network neighborhood, see my Windows 7 pc, and browse the files... BUT the first time I go to connect to the Windows 7 share it asks me for my username and password for the Windows 7 machine.. why is this?
