There aren't any updates on the official blog and very little via official twitter account too so I'm not sure how what you've quoted is both ways...

"Some people just aren't happy unless they're disappointed or angry."
It's amazing to me that people are so emotionally attached to a product or company that they can't acknowledge their faults. Boxee is just another in a long list of startups who are under-resourced and trying to do too much with too little. Nothing more and nothing less.
It's not a matter of being emotionally attached to a product. It's about having reasonable expectations regarding a product.
Maybe i'm just over cautious but whenever someone goes from just making free software that run on other people's OS's to hardware designed explicity for them, I'd either wait 6 months or expect that there will be bumps for that 6 months. But thats me.
On the other hand I'm running the DIY on as cheap a set up as possible because I'm cheap like that.
The level of anger/whatever and talk of returning boxes.
Don't know what other boxes you guys have owned -- but I've used almost all of them.
Boxee is the best at the thing I do most out of the box. Love the little thing.
I have a 20TB fileserver on my network where I keep all of my media -- boxee flawlessly allows me to access my media and play it on my TV.
I can understand people being impatient about netflix -- I was impatient when Netflix Canada wasn't available on my 360. Otherwise though my Boxee is awesome.
