You need to add the TVshows as sources to boxee (settings>media Sources>Local /or Network sources) after boxee has automatically or manual recognized the content it will then add it to the boxee library (videos>movies/tvshows etc..)

I have another really basic question that I don't want to start a new thread for:

Can boxee find media that's attached via USB on an external hard drive?
For instance, would an external WD Passport drive show up under "/Devices" if plugged into the ATV's USB port?

I'm planning on getting my parents an Apple TV either way for Christmas, and with Boxee too it's just going to blow them away.

You need to hack the ATV to enable the USB port. Apple (stupidly) disables the port. You can search the forums, theres at least one or two message threads covering that.
