    Default 0.9.5.4497 ATV Bugs

    I have found the following bugs. (using ATV 2.2)

    1. When in any sub menu, pressing the menu button returns you to the main screen, instead of just moving you back one menu level. (make it very difficult to navigate the menus)

    2. If you try to play a youtube video and the video comes up paused, you can no longer un-pause the video. (in the past you could press the play pause button and it would start the video)

    3. menu button does not seem to work when you go into the settings menu and try to modify any of the settings of your plug ins.

    Will continue testing and let you know if I find anything else.

    I have found that the rtorrent app now works better when you delete old torrent files.


    UPDATE:

    I did a factory restore and updated my atv to 2.3 then reinstalled boxee and the menu navigation is now working as it did before.

    It's true. Menu ALWAYS takes you back to the home screen now, instead of stepping back to the previous screen. This happens even when you try to exit the video control panel.

    Other than that, the new features and interfaces are great, it's just more difficult to navigate through them now.

    I've got a number of h.264 recordings on a Windows SMB mount that I share to boxee. They played fine on the previous version. Now it seems like there's buffering issues. They'll play for about 30 seconds and then I get stuttering. If I pause and wait a few minutes the videos play normally for a while and then the stuttering starts again. These same videos play fine if I stream them through iTunes and play them through the Apple player.

    I've got some xvids on the same mount that play fine using boxee on the current version.

    The new video calibration stuff work great (I think it`s new). My aspect ratios aren`t all screwy now.

    I found another few bugs (that I don't think was there before)

    1. menu button does not work under the downloads section. Pressing menu does nothing, you have to pust the left button to go to the left menu so you can go to another screen. (there is no way to go from the download screen to the main screen directly)

    2. Download screen takes longer to load (but I have not gotten any "unable to connect to rtorrent server" errors so that is good) not really a bug, just an observation. If this is what was needed to get ride of the unable to connect errors then we should leave it that way.

    3. If you press the left button while the Download screen is waiting to come up, boxee gets stuck with the left menu open. You can still navigate the download screen but the left menu is open so everything is shifted right (can't see the right menu when you try to open it). When this first happened I was not able to get back to the left menu so I was not able to exit the download screen, I left the download screan open for about 1hr and then I was able to left click to the left menu (menu was still stuck open after 1hr) and select another page, this fixed the stuck left menu.

    This release is better as I have not seen it crash yet, once we have a fix for the menu navigation I think it will be very usable.

    I started with a clean aTV v2.0.2 and upgraded to v2.3.
    Used PatchStick v...b10
    After the applying the PatchStick to the aTV, i updated the launcher, boxee and xbmc.

    Bug:
    Playing a DVD iso and selecting the dvd menu, crashes boxee.
    After this, boxee and xbmc show only a black screen when launched.
    Remark, the DVD did not contain a dvd menu
    An way out is to de-install boxee and xbmc (by ssh) and install it again.

    Not working:
    - DVD menu navigation :: item selection highlighting
    - DVD subtitles can not be reached

    This release does work better then the previous one e.g. the first NAS (smb shares) on the list can now be accessed.
    All DVD content and MP3, on both NAS'es, are indexed.

    Starting Boxee again, it would 'hang' i.e. showing a blank screen.
    Instead of removing mine Boxee profile, i deleted the file itemshistory.dmp
    from /Users/frontrow/Library/Application Support/BOXEE/UserData/profiles/smiley
    After removing that file, Boxee works fine again.

    I hope it is of some use for the boxee team...

    Question

    After removing that file, Boxee works fine again.
    And it exited again with status:10
    This time wihout a dump file

    Relauching Boxee results in a blank screen.
