Filtering local content based on language of audio tracks (e.g. for dubbed content)
Dear multi-lingual Boxee users, please consider voting for this feature request:
I have three kinds of local content:
- content in original language
- content dubbed in my native language, German
- content with multiple audio tracks, usually original language and German
I prefer to watch most of the content in the original language, my partner only wants to watch content in German.
Currently, there is no way for her to find content that is dubbed, except for starting the playback and checking the "Audio" menu for the available audio tracks, which is very annoying.
Boxee should have a way to show which audio tracks are available from the Movie or Shows overview or, even better, it should have a way to filter content by audio language.
I assume that identifying the available languages from the in-file metadata is not 100% reliable (I sometimes see audio tracks called "Unknown" instead of "German" or "English"). Changing the metadata of the file is not a viable option for most users.
Perhaps you could teach Boxee to recognize some kind of "audio language tags" included in the filenames or something like that, so all the user would have to do is to rename the file?
(If you have a better solution or an idea how those language tags should look, please share it!)
