Youve just restated my point in your own words.....Boxee is not makingmoney off companies adding the software only to thier devices, BUT the hope is the mroe devices the more chance an end user will sue the Boxee software to get premium content which WOULD make them money, there is no disagreement there.

But then if you agree with me why do sheeple keep bleating the 'boxee dont make any money on the box' line.. Its false..

Boxee make money from every boxee box user that uses premium services.. Thats the business model. Thats the model they choose. its not like the box is some charity project run from the goodness of their hearts, its business.

Exactly right. Boxee chose their business model, if they don't make money on the sale of the box thats their choice. It doesn't change the fact that we paid money for our boxes. They're a business who received a significant amount of VC money and they're not automatically entitled to our unswerving support. Support and trust have to be earned. I bought a Boxee box because in the UK we have very limited options with streamers and because I used 0.9 and liked it. I hope they succeed, not least because I'm out of my return window for my box and I understand they're a small team and the issue I have isn't that there are some bugs, but that they released a product that simply wasn't ready and since then have been consistently making promises they haven't kept. Don't tell me something is coming today (twice) unless you know it is! It's very basic PR.

Because they have been using it as a justification for not holding Boxee accountable for the quality of their software since day 1.

Even if Boxee do not make an implicit buck off the sale of the box, the argument is still invalid because they would still be contractually obliged by d-link to continue to ensure that the software is fit for purpose. As mass testing has showed that it isnt to the function and quality that d-link would have agreed to, they are now having to get it there now - and so they should if they have any interest in getting the product on other devices.

Between the returns due to falsely marketing vapourware content and the returns because of sub-commercial level of stability, if anything they have been failing in their obligations and playing catch up, rather than 'gush boxee have released 3 updates wowzers', going by this mentality Windows is the best software in the world .

First of all Netflix ISA free app on iTunes along with hulu plus. I have both service and pay my money directly to them and use their service over several platforms. I do know that ps3 iTunes Microsoft gets no money from these services. Also vudu will not give boxee any money to carry them. This model does not work. Even CBS will not pay boxeeas we will sign up for CBS on their site and not through boxee.

Vudu, Hulu +, etc.

When I sign in to netflix on my xbox, they know I am using that device and they pay according to that essentially. Same as the others.
