Question Boxee Box + Ipad App

with the amazon return date looming i was hoping more light could be shed on the application.

i currently have an HP Media Server and a Boxee Box .....how will this boxee ipad application work?

could i watch my boxee box content on the ipad?

    Per Boxee Blog:

    Boxee for iPad

We have been working the past few months on Boxee for iPad, and while it is not ready to launch we are giving people at the CES Show a sneak peek of the App. It enables you to access videos from your Watch Later list as well as from your Feed (stuff shared from Facebook / Twitter), and staying true to Boxee roots also enables you to stream videos directly to the iPad from your PC/Mac (without requiring you to sync).

You can watch videos on the iPad using the new app, but it only takes one click to send that video to your D-Link/Iomega/ViewSonic Boxee device. “Ze nice,” as we say in the office.

So 2 new devices from new partners, an iPad to accompany them all (including the Boxee Box by D-Link), and some great new content on its way. It’s going to be a big 2011 for Boxee and our users – and we’re happy to be starting the year off with a bang.

If you want to watch your local content there is already a program called Air Video that should work for you, for the boxee you would have to assume that any online content that they have will be available (not sure what good that does as Ipad already has Netflix and Hulu+ working).

There hasnt been any news on the IPad app as of yet (heck it was just barely announced that they would be displaying it at CES), so no one here would be able to give you the answeres you are looking for. Your best bet would probably to try and email one of the Boxee team members.

Not always no, and with the Sp3\Vudu\NetFlix deadlines this week\month, I dont think well see much of anyone on here. Especially do discuss CES stuff, what you may want to do is wait for the Blog post that includes it and comment on that, you may get lucky and get a response there., otherwise Id jsut email someone as they may never see this post.

    Great news!!!
So along with the iPad App. it’s possible to view a movie/file from a HD attached to the Boxee Box on the iPad?

Yes, but you’ll need to run a Boxee Media Server on a PC/Mac to handle the transcoding (the Boxee Box can’t transcode on the fly)
So it seems you need a boxee software on a PC/mac, the iPad version will link to the pc/mac version and the PC will transcode on the fly. This seems to be how the Plex app works.

So yes, according to the comment you can watch video from boxee on the iPad. I would be curious about flash. In another comment he said that a demo video is coming...

I'm also curious about how Flash video will be handled for the iPad app. If the Boxee Media Server transcodes videos to a a format supported by the iPad then this could presumably also apply to Flash content (but might possibly depend on any DRM on the content).
