Default TheHDRoom.com is reporting Netflix Button Coming to Remote Controls

    TheHDRoom.com is reporting:

Several hardware manufacturers will begin building in a red Netflix button on their remote controls. The button will allow viewers to access Netflix's online movie rental service and rental queue with a single button click.
Blu-ray Disc players, Internet-connected televisions and other related media hardware devices such as set-top boxes will include the Netflix button. Sony, Sharp and Toshiba have unveiled plans to include the button on their Internet-connected televisions in 2011, while Roku, Boxee and Iomega are adding it to their set-top box remotes.

Other hardware manufacturers that will add the Netflix buttons to remotes include Panasonic, Memorex, Dynex (Best Buy's brand) and Haier.

The first remotes with the Netflix buttons are due in stores this spring.

Nice. Can I get a Skittles button too?

Always nice to have buttons for features that don't exist.

If you read the post you would notice that these remote features will not be available until the end of the first quarter. The point of the post is to share information so we all can try to see where things are headed.

What purpose does your post serve?

Sorry, wasn't intended as a shot at you or a meaningful post. It just seemed a bit of a slap in the face to hear an announcement about a button for a feature that so many people are pissed about it's absence.

Awesome! Sounds like the perfect opportunity for D-Link to over-haul the Boxee Box remote! They can give it back-lighting while they are adding the NetFlix button. I'd pre-order that bad boy right now

As much as I'd hate to pay for something that we should have got in the first place, my order would be right on the heels of yours!

Maybe it will be officially announced prior to "" date so I can still return and wait haha... It doesn't matter anyways, I use my iPhone remote.

Unfortunately that is one of the down sides of buying version 1.0 of anything.
"Whoops. No back-light and gray lettering on the keys may not have been the best design choice."
"No problem. We'll fix it in version 2".

I solved the remote lettering problem by getting my wife to go across the room and turn on the lights. Seriously, marriage (while expensive) has its advantages.

Hmmm. I'm married but if I tried that the response I would get would be something along the lines of "are your legs broken"?
