    Default Straight to Disc Not Identified

    Happy New Year All!

    Any suggestions on how to get BB to identify my kids' straight to video movies?

    For instance, Sesame Street: Computer Caper (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0976170/) is in imdb, but the box continues to list it in my unidentified files. Identifying via boxee doesn't find it either.

    Thanks for any help.

    What has worked for me for some of my files is pasting the title and IMDB number into a ".nfo" file that has the same name as the movie folder. It has not worked for all but some.

    So I have a basically blank(ish) .nfo file on my desktop and for each of these type of movies I will open it up as a text file in notepad and paste the IMDB ID number in the <id></id> field and type the name in the <title></title> field and delete everything else but the </movie> flag.

    Then I save it as the exact name as the movie is ripped .nfo in the same folder as my movie. This has worked for some movies but not others. I can't see any rhyme nor reason but it is worth a shot. Sometimes it can take a day or so to show up since I don't go in and tell it to manually rescan every time I add one.

    If you go and get and save a JPG of the movie cover art in the same folder Boxee will sometimes pick that up as an image to go along with your nfo file as long as they are named exactly the same. But sometimes it doesn't and you just get the grey box with the name it it, but at least it is "recognized."

    So this one is "nightbreed.nfo" you can cut and paste this one with your data and try it yourself.

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <movie xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
    <id>tt0100260</id>
    <title>Nightbreed</title>

    </movie>

    It will also work if you create a .nfo file containing just the URL of the IMDb page for the movie - I've successfully used this for a direct to video release that Boxee would not identify.
    You only really need to use XML format .nfo files if you want to either manually override the metadata returned from IMDB or manually enter all the metadata yourself - neither of which is currently supported by the Boxee Box AFAIK (although it is planned in a future release - see JIRA issue BOXEE-4303).

    If its named the same as your video file it shouldnt matter, just make sure they are named the same (except the extension)

    I tired So Fresh's method by creating a text file, entering the xml code and saving it as *.nfo. Named the file the same as the movie and then refreshed media on BB. 1 of 7 files were corrected this way.

    Sccrluk - if I just create the *.nfo file do I need any xml coding or can I just place the link on one line and save??

    Thanks for the quick help.

    According to a dev on a different topic you can have a *.nfo file with the link of the IMDB entry only (no xml) and it should pick them up.

    For 2012:

    Filename: "2012 (2010).ext" - where ext is your file format, such as mkv, avi, m4v, etc..

    When Boxee fails to identify it, you can find it listed in its list of unidentified files. Selecting it will then allow you to search and the search field will show up blank instead of containing the named part of the filename as it should.

    Type "2012" and search. The first match should be the movie, "2012 (2010) (Movie)" - select it and you should be done.

    This should add the file and details to your database. It did for mine along with the identical issue/method for 1408.

    you can find it listed in its list of unidentified files
    If you don't see a video there, then navigate to directly via Files>>Browse.
