Default No HDMI output = Dead Boxee Box?

My BB was working fine. It was on for the good part of one day, and we were watching sports on TV. I imagine the BB was in screen saver mode, however, when I switched back to the BB input, there was no signal detected.

I tried rebooting the BB several times, and there is still no signal detected.

I tried several other HDMI cables, and other inputs on my TV, with the same results

I also tried the factory reset (yellow) mode, nothing happened. Also, held it longer to get the RED BB logo, and still, no results.

It seems to turn on fine, its lights up like usual, but there is nothing being sent to the TV.

My TV Samsung LNT4661f skips inputs if there is no connection detected, and then if there is no signal, it shows "no signal". Nothing has changed recently in my setup, it was working earlier in the day, and now it isn't.

I made a support ticket, however, I am thinking the outcome is not going to be much more than "return to Amazon for a replacement" as per this similar thread http://forums.boxee.tv/showthread.php?t=21966

I would rather not be without my BB for a few days while I wait for the Amazon replacement, so I figured I would check if anybody had any ideas before I sent it back

    thanks

It does sound as though your BBox needs exchanged - I would plead my case to Amazon, order another one right away and ask if they might send it out via expedited shipping under the circumstances - and return your BBox for credit

Or look for a BBox in a CompUSA or Frys if you have any close to you - and return the BBox to Amazon for credit

I figured that would be the case, they are gonna send the replacement out tonight expedited and then I will return this unit in the box that the new one comes in.

It's sad that it comes to this. I am not a novice user and in no way did I misuse my Boxee Box. My outlets are all grounded, and we didn't have a power surge. It just stopped sending the HDMI signal...

Turn to the BB input on your TV. Then turn off the TV. At this point, both the BB and TV are off. Turn on the BB. Wait until you think the BB has completely booted up (1 minute+). Now turn on the TV. See if this works.

Did you try with another TV? If you don't have another one with HDMI inputs, do you have a neighbor or friend that you can try it at?

Even though it could be just HDMI, see if it's the BB as a whole. Any spare audio cables lying around? See if it still gives off audio. Test it out with the start-up animation part.

Hey - poop happens with any type of device - it may seem like the BBox is having excessive issues - but keep in mind the many thousands of BBox owners that are not having issues, and of course are not posting that fact here on the forum - I have 2 BBoxes that are virtually issue free - the only occassional issue I have is a freeze once in a while and if I give it a few moments it frees itself up - but a hard reboot is called for once in a great while - I have a feeling this next upcoming firmware update will make the BBox much more functional for those who are having issues

I have confirmed that the Boxee Box is Dead. I had on hand, a brand new Boxee Box (Christmas gift to my friend who is visiting). He let me open it, and use it until the return unit comes.

Using all the same cables I was using before, I simply swapped in the new unit and it detected it right away, currently downloading the new updates.

Replacement unit is on the way, hopefully Expedited.
