    Default IMDb TV Listings

I am trying to get my collection transferred after starting to use Boxee and so far it has been pretty easy. From what I understand, Boxee uses IMDb for both movies and TV Shows. I have come across an issue that seems to be IMDb's fault and just wanted to see what you all would do with this problem.

I am adding Tom and Jerry episodes from the 40s and 50s. TVDB has them all correctly listed and categorized as see here: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=72860&lid=7 However, after searching IMDb for what seemed like forever I finally found that all the episodes before 1965 are listed as individual Titles and even the 1965-1972 episodes are under a single Title as seen here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274294/ with no episodes listed. The very first Tom and Jerry episode was Puss Gets the Boot and it has an IMDb page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032953/. All 100+ episodes have a separate listing rather than being all under Tom and Jerry as episodes.

So, what would you all do with this predicament? Obviously Boxee can't recognize my files and I refuse to add them all as separate shows and have to wade through all 100+ in my library. Any ideas?

edit: It appears that my Looney Toons collection might be suffering the same fate...

Yeah, Looney tunes are the same way. I made mine as all separate files.

Some have tried an ISO of the dvd and creating a symbolic link to make boxee see all the separate EP's in the DVD ISO. (search the forms for symbolic link and you'll find it...)

I got tired of wasting time and ripped them as seperate EPS. Even then they don't index well via IMDB.

I just put them all in a separate folder and added them to the boxee index source, but set it not to index. That way I can go to Files/Browse and see the listing there.

You can see my First Stop sig link. There are some links there for setting up shows/movies by correct naming formats and submitting those that don't work to boxee directly...but I would not hold my breath on those big series DVD's.

Alright, thanks! I sent IMDb an email about the issue so maybe they'll fix it. *hold breath* We'll see what they say back.

    Alright, I got a reply.

The overwhelming majority of Tom and Jerry Cartoons made until 1967 were not made for television. Therefore their status as individual titles are perfectly legitimate.

This is also true of many Warner Brothers, Disney, and Walter Lantz cartoons, among other studios of the mid-20th Cnetury.
The only connection they will have is through the keywords Tom and Jerry.

Hopefully someday we'll be able to chose between different indexing services...

I'm having the same problem with Popeye cartoons and Little Rascals shorts from the 30's and 40's. They were shown in theaters and IMDB lists them as individual titles. So if I want to include them in Boxee, I'll wind up with hundreds of randomly titled shorts mixed in with my 100 or so feature films.

    I miss TVDB.
