Not sure what you mean - karaoke uses .cdg file, not .sub files. .sub files are text, .cdg are graphical and don't work anything like subtitles. See here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhlT_...A34CEB980A286C

wow... i'm not talking ".sub", i'm talking ".ass" subtitle files (= advanced substation alpha) which is able to display a WIDE array of karaoke effects. and after looking at your link.... wow, you can't be serious.... that looks like 1980. have you seen .ass karaoke in effect? i bet not. all the anime fansub groups use it on opening and endind themes.

    look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KKXA1enO9Ww

quality is not sooo good, but you'll get my point.

seeing this for the first time, after depending on your crappy karaoke all the time, will definitely blow your mind.

lyrics could easily be made a lot bigger for your purposes, to fill the screen.

programs used are most likely "aegisub" and "assdraw"

Never heard of that before - problem is there seems to be a lack of content in that format. I don't want to sing along to anime, and my entire karaoke collection is .cdg, plus everything (practically everything) available online is .cdg format. That .ass stuff looks pretty, but if I can't find anything worth playing at a party in it, it's just ASS. Search for karaoke in any of the torrent sites, everything is .cdg. And even the store bought CDs are .cdg format.

Is team boxee listening, this would be so easy for them to implement .cdg support, even winamp has a plugin for cripe sake.
This would put this box over the top and open up a whole new consumer base for boxee.
not to mention, it would set it apart from every STB out there.
Teamboxee take a look at the software "justkaraoke"
    http://www.tricerasoft.com/karaoke_s...tKaraoke2.html
Something similar would be perfect for the boxee.
Connect a blue tooth or wireless usb mic and now you have a whole new possibility for the box.

    PC - (2x) 6-Core 2439 Opterons, 32GB Ram, SLI GTX670, (2x) 240GB SSD in Raid '0', Seasonic x1250 PSU.
    Boxeebox firmware 1.5.1.23734
4TB NAS, 1TB WD Passport on box w/32GB SDCard in box.

Damn, got all my Karaoke files off the old Xbox, and was ready to play them on the Boxee.

    Damn.

I was never able to find a microphone for the Xbox, so I guess I could hook up the computer to the surround sound and TV.

Karaoke does work on the Boxee PC right??

Hoping for some more support to make this happen - I'm tired of hooking the laptop to the TV for karaoke!

Yeah but you can't play your own stuff plus you have to pay for credits. I'd like to be able to play my own collection of cdg files.
