Default Probs on playing DVD, ISO and .Mkv

Hi can anyone help me ! Got a problem when trying to playback a DVD ,ISO ore .mkv files, i got a fine picture but the sound is like static on a radio ?
all other files like .avi .wmv etc play's fine.Im new to boxee box so maybe im doing something wrong i mean it can't be a codec/audio problem when none of the files (DVD.ISO and .mkv) works.
Hope u can give me a hint on what im doing wrong.

sounds like you are trying to play a DTS soundtrack on a device that cant accept it.

Well, right now we have nothing to work with as we have no information about your hardware. What do you have the Boxee Box hooked up to? Are you using HDMI? SPDIF? RCA? Are you connecting to a receiver or a TV? What options do you have selected in the audio settings within Boxee?

Please provide at least minimal information on your setup. Without it, troubleshooting is impossible.

Default Probs on playing DVD,ISO and .mkv

Im using my boxee on a TV via HDMI and stream via a qnap server.

I'v been messing a bit with the audio settings on Boxee and the funny thing is when i set it up with audio via HDMI i can play .avi .mpg. etc but not DVD,ISO ore .mkv files the sound is like static on a radio but when i switch the audio option to all audio the dvd,iso and .mkv files works fine but then i got no sound on all other video formats ?

Sounds like you're trying to pass through DTS to the TV when it doesn't support DTS decoding, internally.

It works when it's set to "all" because it's then outputting in PCM stereo because it has to also output over the stereo RCA connections on the back. It works with .avi and .mpg files because they're in stereo, anyway.

Is there a way to force the Boxee Box to output everything in PCM over HDMI?

If not, you may be better off just using HDMI for video to your TV and using the RCA stereo outputs to your TV for sound since it almost surely doesn't do surround sound by itself, anyway.

Glad I could help. Additionally, I think it should work over HDMI if you disable the "Dolby Digital capable receiver" and "DTS capable receiver" options.
