Thread: audio dropping out since upgrade

Default audio dropping out since upgrade

Since I did the upgrade I'm having my local content audio drop out for a sec or two. Doesn't matter what kind of file. It happens sometimes 5 or 6 times within a ten minute span and then it won't for twenty minutes. This was never an issue before the upgrade. Thoughts?

Would someone be able to direct me in a direction of what I should do or who I should talk to on this issue?
Any tips, help, would be extremely appreciated.

I am also now having lots of audio problems and drop outs on files that I know played fine before.

I'm seeing this as well. It seems to happen following very slight rebufferings.

What's a bit weird for me is that those rebufferings didn't happen when my ext HD was attached to my router. They happen now that the HD is hooked up directly to the BB on USB (please note that this HD is also shared on the network through the BB, so it might be what's slowing it down).

My files have not moved from where they worked flawlessly before.

You might consider a reset/restore if you don't find a resolution soon -- also, do you leave your BBox on all the time -- if so try rebooting it with the switch on the Box before considering the restore - I heard mention of the BBox freezing the video (not rebuffering) and the audio dropping at the same time - a couple of reboots stopped it

Also disconnect any attached devices (ie...USB Flash/HDDs, SD Card, USB dongle for any type of device) while doing the reboot and/or restore

Maybe even do a power cycle of all networ devices, and in the correct order

This was reported weeks back and I thought it was one of the fixes in the Dec 13 update. I've not listened to enough from my audio collection to have heard whether it's fixed on not. Will do...

Never had this problem before the Dec 13 upgrade. I've done the shutting everything down and rebooting. I've recycled my box many times. It doesn't matter what type of file I play now, the audio drop outs occur at random times through the shows.

I wanna believe in this product, I really, really do. When it works right, it's terrific. But it's issues like this that are shaking my faith.

Things to try - have only the required audio output enabled.

Is this happening when your Box is trying to update its thumbnails etc? If so, rebooting may be the wrong thing to do - try leaving it alone for some time, then see if audio still stops.

Is this on wireless or ethernet?
