Local content changes are nice, but still getting a lot of buffering on various videos, both SD and HD, even on sd video files that my old chipped xbox (xbmc) played without any problem via my NAS over Ethernet (200mb powerline).
Also the shutdown bug (box restarts after selecting shutdown via the remote) hasn't been fixed, although as the jira bug entry wasn't marked as resolved i didn't really expect it be, but having a retail product that doesn't shut down when it's asked to, seems like a high priority issue to me.
Without more details on your files its impossible to say where the stuttering is coming from. Also, powerline while rated at 200mb can vary widely within the same house. If you can connect a USB drive directly to the BOxee Box and it plays fine then you know its a network issue and not a Boxee Box issue.
Current Setup:
Synology DS1511+ (8TB)
1x Apple TV2 with Plex and XBMC
1x Roku LT with Plex
1x Boxee Box (SOLD!)
For the stuttering try these suggestions on this link:

Fix was a different registry key (affects Windows 7 and Vista):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services ->LanmanServer ->Parameters
Create a DWORD entry SMB2. Value will default to 0 which is correct.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SYSTEM -> CurrentControlSet -> Services ->LanmanServer ->Parameters
Change the entry 'Size' from 1 to 3.

1 = Minimize Memory Used
2 = Balance
3 = Maximize Throughput for File Sharing and Maximize Throughput for Network
Problem solved.

Played around with it a little, and just as someone suggested, all old watch flags are reset when a new watch flag is set. So only the latest watched flag on a show is correct, all others are reset back to unwatched.
Should be a very easy bug to fix, and hopefully they fix it fast.
I understand that the power line is probably closer to 70mb network throughput, but if the same file (SD xvid) plays on my old xbox (powered by basically a celeron processor) without any issue, but buffers on the boxee box from the exact same source, then I'm ruling out the network as the cause for the buffering.
I'll be hooking up a local hdd at some point this week to test buffering issues with some HD content, so will repeat the same test as above to see if that cures the buffering problems.
As with many others on the forum, I've been pretty disappointed with the box so far, but am willing to give the team time to sort out the issues, as both the hardware and software have huge potential.
This update has improved my BD ISO playback. the previous firmware was mostly fine for me with my regular 48Khz BD ISOs but my BD ISOs with High resolution audio(96Khz and 192Khz) had buffering issues.
I only looked at a few this morning for a few minutes each, but in that time I saw no buffering with those High resolution audio titles. With the old firmware they would have buffering problems right away.
Of course the DTS-HD MA high resolution audio titles are bitstreaming fine so I have the 96Khz audio decoded in my receiver. With the Dolby TrueHD 96Khz and 192Khz it is still sending out 48Khz PCM instead of the proper 96Khz and 192Khz that the bitstreamed audio would be. But at least it did not have the buffering problem which is a big improvement.
Hopefully Intel will fix the Dolby True HD bitstreaming issue sooner than later. The update is a nice improvement from the previous version. It makes we want to get my secondary and tertiary Boxee Boxes even sooner.

Boxee Box 1, 2 & 3(Boxee+ v1.4.6), PCs(v1.5.0.23596) Boxee TV(v2.1.0.7781)
Server 1: HP MSS WHS (56TB) (NFS/SMB)
Server 2: unRAID1 (32TB) (NFS/SMB)
Server 3: unRAID2 (29TB) (SMB)
Server 4: TiVo Desktop (6TB RAID 5) (SMB)
NAS 1: Intel SS4200-E (4TB RAID 5) (NFS/SMB)
NAS 2: Dlink DNS-321 (1TB RAID 1) (SMB)
For me this update makes the box almost perfect as I watch almost all local content. I have played around with streaming content a bit but find it to 'hit and miss' for me. When I want to watch something, I don't want to mess around finding it, i just want to watch it and that means a local file for me. I had one avi from a bluray rip that would not play, it plays perfectly now. The one thing I am surprised to see not addressed by the Boxee team is the ignoring of 'A', 'An', 'The' at the beginning of media titles. This is a very basic part of almost every media management software I can think of and when you have hundreds of movies in your library, quite annoying. A minor quibble but look forward to it being fixed at a future date. Keep up the good work, and thanks.
