I've had The Box for over a year, since it came out.
My remote started acting wonky. Clicking ahead and stuff. Thought it was the battery so I replaced it.
Now it doesn't work at all.![]()
I've had mine about a year too i think and previously I had this same issue for a while and it seemed to go away (I forget whether i did anything, i think i just relocated my router). However, the problem has come back (pretty much straight after last update or update before last) where it will work for about 15-30 mins after i switch boxee on but it will then stop working - consistently every time i use boxee. Fortunately, Android app works.
Very frustrating but I don't hold out any hope of a resolution, D-Link seem to have little interest in the continued support of this product.
My Boxee is brand new and after 12 hours stopped working. I tried changing the batteries and no luck.
The boxee was for my grandfather who doesn't own a smart phone.
What gives? Should I just return the whole unit, or is this a common problem for all Boxee's? HELP PLEASE.
Boxee needs more Aussie Apps!
When you say..."My Boxee is brand new and after 12 hours stopped working " I assume you mean the Boxee Box's "remote" since this is a Boxee Remote thread
In any case if you're sure it's not the battery and if you've paired the remote correctly (which you must have because you said it worked for 12 hours) - http://support.boxee.tv/entries/3252...r-boxee-remote - returning/exchanging the BBox where you purchased it would be the best, quickest and easiest solution -- getting an RMA from D-Link would be more involved and take considerably longer
Before returning it, you might try disconnecting all cables from the BBox and reseat the remote's battery and maybe 'pair' the remote again
My remote is FUBAR. I tried pairing, getting a new battery, moving the internal wires, pressing on the batter pack, powering off the box, unplugging all the cables from the box over night, blah blah blah blah. I think it's a hardware problem within the remote. I've never dropped it so what else could it be? Is there a way to just RMA the remote? (of course I'd probably have to pay for shipping AGAIN since I already RMA'd my box once). Sheesh!!!!!
I don't think you can RMA just the remote but you would have to check with D-Link to confirm.

"Some people just aren't happy unless they're disappointed or angry."
For all you people and boxee users out there who change the battery in their Boxee Remote here is a tip:
Place the positive side Down so only the Negative side is facing you when you go to slide the battery and tray back into the slot.
Normally many folks will place their battery like how they would put it in a motherboard with the + side showing, however with Boxee Remote battery holder, the + side goes face down, and the - side (negative) should be facing upward.
Then your remote will work (or even do the pair remote for holding down the middle button for 15secs close to the boxee whilst on I believe)
Anyway, hope some folks can find this tip useful as I got sucked in a couple of times with this now.
Cheers~!
I never thought of that. I feel foolish.
