I've owned by box for about 20 days, the remote just stopped working, its completely dead. Tried repairing, battery etc, it's just stone dead. Note the box still works using the iphone app. This is a huge issue, I'll be returning the box within the week if a solution is not found.
I read this forum and tried the following:
** Replace the Battery
** Re-synced remote as per instructions
** Turned the Boxee off and let it cool down overnight.
Solution: I took it back to Harvey Norman and they replaced it with a new one. I have kept all the packaging this time in case I am doing the same thing again in a months time.
I'll keep an eye on this thread in case someone comes up with a solution in the future.
Why is this ticket closed but unresolved/incomplete?
I'm so sick of this happening, The remote will just work randomly and the only way to get it back up and running is to either:
Mash a bunch of random buttons for about 30 seconds til it responds or reseat the battery.
Please watch/vote on this problem if you're experiencing the same issue.
Have the same problem. Remote just died suddenly. Contacted Boxee and they said to contact Dlink for a RMA. I live in Norway and bought the Boxee from Amazon, so I hope Dlink can help in an easy way, because sending the box back to the states is just hopeless and will keep me from it for weeks, I fear...
Mine has worked fine since the latest firmware update
I recently experienced this issue. At first the remote was just dead. I took the battery out and put it back in. After that the remote started working but one button press generated lots of buttin responses or sometimes buttonpresses didn't register at all. After a half hour or so it started working like normal again.
I have exactly the same problem. Haven't been able to fix it. Have no idea whats happening.
Have you tried a new battery ???
Fully updated software, 7 batteries, and 2 remotes later and i'm still having issues where the remote periodicity does not work. sometimes it works for a month, sometimes it works a week.
I've been fighting this issue since I purchased the boxee which was the day it was released on Amazon (1 year ago). Each time it begins working I assume that it was finally fixed due to a recent OS update. but I can see now that isn't the case.
The second I feel like giving up it falls out of warranty. --
I love boxee, I want it to be my central hub for all things media. Love that they just added Spotify! But what good is it if I cannot control it.
There are so many issues about this out there, Its not just me.
