Default My Boxee box remote just stopped working?

Ok, so I have had my boxee box for about 5 days. And all of the sudden while playing pandora today, I went to go do something and the boxee box is not responding to the remote at all.

I can use my iphone app remote and everything works fine, but the remote that came with the boxee box just doesn't seem to be working.

I pulled out the battery and measured the voltage and it's 3.1V and since it's a 3V battery I'm assuming that's ok.

I tried re-pairing the device, which from this link:
    http://support.boxee.tv/entries/3252...y-boxee-remote
Is just hold the OK button for 5 seconds? Is that it? Just hold the OK button next to the box? Does the box have to be in any special state? Powering on? Not using an app? Not playing a video? I tried a couple of these and still nothing.

My boxee box works great, but the remote not working, I'm kind of bummed that I might have to send the whole thing back to amazon for just the remote. Can I return just the remote to D-Link?

anyone have anything else I can try? Or any insight on the return policy? Does amazon replace the device, or just return and I get my money back? And I have to order another?

    The software update fixed it.

I must have tried re-pairing the remote at least 2 dozen times at different states of the boxee box, while starting up on the home screen in the settings screen, etc.... NOTHING.

Thank goodness I could still use my iPhone boxee remote which is the only way I could perform the update and after the update, tried re-pairing the remote and it worked.

I was going to return it today to Amazon but just didn't get around to it, thank goodness I didn't.

Ok, spoke too soon. It paired and started working and I was so happy I can here and posted that update.

Well after a few more minutes I realized that some times a button press didn't register with the boxee box and sometimes a single button press went crazy and the boxee box responded with 5-10 button presses (not all the same button, sometimes hitting ok would make it do: ok, ok, ok, left, left, left, down, down, down or something).

So I rebooted the boxee box. And now the remote doesn't work at all and won't pair to the device again.

You could try reverting your Boxee back to an older Firmware and not allowing it to connect to the internet? that may work, at least to re-flash it again with the new firmware.

Do you know of instructions to do that? I know not letting it connect to the internet. And re-flashing to the latest firmware only worked marginally. It let the device pair but after that it started flaking out.

After leaving mine all unplugged for an hour or so, plugged it back and and mine started working again. But it started to flake out and fail within about 15 minutes. Sometimes it doesn't register button presses on the remote, sometimes multiple registers for one button press. Couldn't enter any capitol letters at all.

After a long and rather difficult conversation with DLink tech support, they determined that my hardware was faulty and I should RMA it. They gave me RMA instructions for DLink but I checked Amazon (where I bought it) and I said I was returning it for a replacement and they are already shipping out it's replacement and I have 30 days to return the one I have. And free shipping back to Amazon.

I wish mine hadn't broken but I'm glad it's easy and free to return.

Had the same problem, check you File Sources and remove any invalid network location. Once I removed the old shares the remote stop freaking out. Also I had to reboot the unit once I removed the invalid shares.

update, It turned out not to be invalid shares as I though. The remote starting acting up again and I believe I solved the issue. I had another boxee box that was in the area. Once I turned one off the remote starting behaving. I’m guessing the other boxee was intercepting the remote commands. Just thought I would post an update.

I'm having the same problem. I've made a bug report on Jira. If you're having the same problem please vote/watch the issue on Jira so that the developers can prioritize. Also, sharing your experiences on the Jira comments might help.

I'm having the same issue and it's driving me nuts. I press a button once and registers it three or fours times. The iPhone remote app works fine.

I noticed though that this problem completely disappears when I use the remote really close to the Boxee box so I think the issue lies with some sort of interference. I live in an apartment building with a lot of wireless networks... maybe that has something to do with it?
