Default Pre-sales Questions about file sorting

Can your list local media (iso, mkv, avi etc.) in a file list with no thumbnails? Too many movies in my library to want to see all that.

Are the folders that your local media used in the display. In other words will I still have my media sorted by folder when viewing local shares?

Does it play WMC recorded files in the local share? So sharing the dvr files across the network. Does that make sense?

This thing looks like the coolest thing ever. Once Netflix is on-board it will be unbeatable.

    Thanks

    1) Yes, there is a "list" option -- the left side of the screen shows the list of movies and the right half will have cover art, description info, etc for the currently highlighted movie.

    2) If you use the Browse function (under Files), you are browsing your folder structure across the network. Otherwise, (local) movies are lumped together and TV shows are lumped together. (If I understand what you're asking).

    3) .wtv files are supposed to be supported but currently they don't work (I get audio but no video; others have reported getting video and no audio).

Thanks for your quick reply! Do you think the .wtv format will be worked out in the future?

Is there a alternative media center with dvr and netflix capabilities out?

Yeah, I believe .wtv support should be worked out eventually. No idea what the timeframe is.

As far as I'm aware, none of the set-top boxes out currently support this format. You'd need a full-fledged HTPC running Windows Media Center.

Sometimes, on some devices, renaming your .wtv files to .dvr-ms can facilitate playback. But not always.

Would be cool if they could implement the windows dvr formats. I was more asking about a wmc replacement not a Boxee replacement. The Boxee looks too cool. I want to record tv and share it across the network along with the other media. Just wondering if someone else made a decent windows based "10 foot" media software that used a dvr format that Boxee could read?

I looked around and see quite a few. Just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks a lot. Another reason to buy this product. Great forum.

After researching options, it appears that Mediaportal does everything I need and more! It uses DVR-MS to record which Boxee Box says is compatible.

Anyone using Mediaportal or played DVR-MS files with Boxee Box?

    Thank you.

Looks like it's sneaking into the next release

Right click on the .wtv file and choose "convert to dvr-ms" - but I've not actually tried to see if the Box will then play the result.
