Default Upcoming minor (but important) UI Changes

The next build of the Boxee Box firmware will include some UI changes that are intended to make it easier to navigate to your content on Boxee.

We are adding a screen in the initial login that will ask the user how he is going to use Boxee, for local file playback or Internet streaming. The selection will set the default behavior of clicking on Movies, Shows and Apps. These settings can later be changed by going to Settings>General>Menu

We have made a couple of changes to the generic browse screens to make it easier to sort through large collections. There is now a Sort button that lets you make changes to sorting order without launching the Menu.

There is now an option to navigate quickly by A-Z. You will see an alphabet bar on the right, so you can quickly jump to 'W' in case you want watch "Wife Swap" or other quality programming.. ;)

We added two new filter options for local files. The ability to filter by Genre and back by popular demand is the ability mark items as Watched or Unwatched and filter just the files you have not watched.

For people who wanted a more frequent scanning of their libraries we have introduced an hourly scan option. We also added a Scan button to the browse screen, so you can manually trigger a scan of your video folders without needing to go to Settings.

We are sending a version for testing to Early Access users and hope to release an update some time next week. The new firmware will also include numerous bug fixes.

Thanks again for your feedback and trust.

Sounds like a winner - I'm very much looking forward to seeing it. A couple questions:

If I configure BB to use Local Files, then doing searching for my files, are hundreds of files from the internet still going to appear in the search results, or JUST my local files?

Also, what happens if I select "I'm not sure"

One Question. Does this build include "Foreign Language Support" for file names?

    Default Early Access? And...

How does one go about getting early access? Would be nice to apply for that.

Does having multiple BBs preordered the day that preorders started count? Or running multiple dedicated Boxee machines prior to the box?

Also, a description of the difference in behavior would be nice besides just a screenshot. If you choose a local focus, what happens when you navigate from the main menu? What happens with the other options ?

Any chance there's a way to trigger a scan through the web interface?

The changes look good. Keep up the good work.

When are you guys planning to allow changing the menu language for all the non-english speaking people out there?
