    Default wi-fi problems

Hi Guys, I'm a new Boxee Box owner and I'm also having similar problems with my wi-fi connection to the Box. It will connect fine initially, but at random will just disconnect from the wireless network. Occasionally it will reconnect again after reapplying the network settings, but typically it will just stay disconnected. Sometimes it will allow me to connect again after rebooting. It's really annoying because the disconnect typically happens in the middle of watching a video.

The Box's network connection is much more consistent with a wired connection, but ideally I'd like to use the Wireless-N. I have a PS3 and XB360 in the exact same location as the BBOX, and neither of those devices has any problem connecting to my wi-fi, so I don't see any reason why the BBOX is having this frequent disconnecting problem.

My router is a Netgear model WNR3500. I think I've tried everything I found in this forum thread. I setup a "guest" login on the NAS where I'm streaming my videos from. My SSID is set to broadcast and consists only of alphanumeric characters. My security option is WPA2-PSK [AES].

Is there anything else I can try that I may have missed? Should I send my debug logs to shayz? Please help. Thanks!

I just tested using my DGN3500 which I believe uses the same hardware and had no issues. I'm using the default SSID, no encryption, channel 11, and 270mbps mode.

Have you tried turning the router off at the wall for a minute and turning it back on again? I have to reboot mine about once a week cause either the LAN or WIFI will just stop working on one computer :\ Netgear make some pretty shoddy gear

    Thanks for the post.
I was having this problem too, sometimes the wireless connection worked just fine and the suddenly stopped working.. usually after a reboot. Always came back too on its own after some time, sometimes minutes and sometimes days.

Resetting my dlink DIR-600 to factory values insta-repaired my connection with boxee.

Now im thinking is this a boxeebox issue or an issue with my router? Cause all my other devices work great wireless (iphone 3gs and a few laptops).

    Default WiFi issues

I'm experiencing issues as well with my Linksys WAP610N router. I've set it to 2.4 GHz, WPA and WPA2 Personal, changed the password to simplify it, yet it still cannot connect to it (even though it can detect it).

My G router works fine, but it's not fast enough to support the high bit rate of my HD content.

I've had issues streaming wirelessly from my nas to the boxee box since day 1. I finally got around to swapping wireless channels a few days ago and it cleared everything up. Simple solution I should have tried months ago. Watching 720 and some times SD content in the past would become unbearable with the pauses to buffer but the last few days have been perfect.

I use a program called inSSIDer to check which channels my neighbors are using. Then I can choose the best channel to minimize interference.

I have a new twist to this issue and am wondering if anyone has been able to connect to an iPhone running MyWi? Currently I'm in a campground that I have access to the 3G network and my wife would like to use Netflix. I've tried wizard, manually setting it up and nothing works. Ant ideas would help. Thanks

    Default Wireless

Hey I just picked up one of these yesterday and having a few issues with connecting via wifi...

I have my wifi protected via WPA2-PSK (AES)

    Channel 11

The boxee can see it initally but won't connect after putting the password in.

I had to end up making the wifi unsecure so it would connect and update (so it is running the latest firmware)

    Any thoughts?

BTW love it so far with the little playing that i have done...

I could not get a good wireless connection myself, putting it in the same location where my xbox had no problems. Also close to where I use my laptop with no problems. I also tried the wireless in another room in a location where again other equipment didn't have any problems. I was not impressed with the boxee wireless abilities and ended up hard wiring it.... Now I at least have a hard wired gigabit network.

After all the above... I ended up getting a 2nd boxee for the bedroom and just got one of these since I didn't want to hard wire the bedroom and the boxee wireless wasn't working well. When I connect the boxee to this it appears to the boxee as a wired connection http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833162029 I get close to 300 megabits on this device, but since the boxee is limited to 100 megabits via ethernet I'm not using the full 300...
